1000th Post!

Well, I can't believe that it finally happened, but we are now posting our 1000th post on the LandLife Blog! Some of you have been reading since the very first post and some of you we picked up during our adoption process. I know that some of you might not have discovered the blog until after Reed was home.

So, before I go any further, please take a moment to leave a comment and tell us how long you've been reading and why you keep on "reed"ing, like we don't know!

So, I know that most of you have read my feelings about DVD-addicted children who seem to think getting in the car in synonymous with watching an episode of Dora. Well, we have resisted the DVD player up to this point, but we have relented and given Lola permission to buy Reed a DVD player for Christmas (don't tell Reed, it would ruin the surprise).

We did have the stipulation that it had to be removable so that we didn't have to have it in the van while we weren't traveling.

Since we're in the mood for breaking the rules, we have indulged Reed in a limited amount of television time. Actually, I realized that his beloved Elmo can be seen on "Sesame Street" on-demand for free.

Of course, this sudden change in events has taken us all, including Reed, by surprise.

Thankfully, Reed doesn't seem to be overly interested in television. We're hoping that this stays the case. A little bit of TV isn't bad, it's the addiction that I fear.

Reed was so shocked with our newfound "liberalness" with television that he texted Beeyull.

He seemed to take the news well, we told him that we would not be buying him a cell phone until his 16th birthday, despite the fact that he has been asking for one.

So, here it is the end of our 1000th post, and for whatever reason you follow us, we are thankful. We love sharing our lives with you!

I think I have been reading from the very beginning...Of course I have been around longer than Reed or the blog! :) I enjoy being able to keep up with y'all even though we don't live close together.

I haven't been reading since post numero uno... but I've been reading since before the Flat Reed days. :) I keep reading because I like reading about your loving hearts... and Reedo's antics make me grin. Oh, and I like seeing photos of your beautiful Christmas trees... all 587 of them!

Wow! Congrats on hitting the 1000 mark! I began "reed-ing" upon discovering Flat Reed and have been hooked ever since. Reed is so adorable and even the non-Reed consumed posts are always interesting! Keep up the good work and have a very Merry Christmas!

Well, I know I've been "reed"ing since Flat Reed- don't remember the month. I was at a point where I wanted all the Taiwan Adoption Blogs and sites I could absorb. Now at the saturation point, and sick with our wait (20 months on Christmas!), I've remained a reader because you guys are charming, living the same area of the country, and are also believers. Oh, and- yeah- Reed is a cutie!

I don't think that I have followed since the very beginning, but I have followed through your adoption process; and I still am following. I guess I come back to watch Reed grow, since there is no way to meet him face to face. I hope you are all doing well, love you guys!

Wow...that is awesome 1000th post..I doubt I will ever get there! I've been reading since the time you folks joined the JOH board and followed your entire journey, the creation of Flat Reed which I thought was a hoot, and now your family of 3. I like watching how much Reed has grown and share this connection with other families that have adopted from Taiwan and picked up their little ones around the same time as we picked up Yu-Lin. Really a magically moment in my life that I still can't believe came true.

Ahhhh...watch out for the DVD addiction. We vowed we would never do that too..but there are times when Yu-Lin hasn't watched any DVDs for a week and then he will start pointing to the t.v. asking for more...eeek. The portable DVD did come in handy, however, when we flew to Chicago last month...life saver!

Congratulations again on your 1000th post!

Hey Land family! You probably have no clue who I am but I am a faithful follower of your blog! I am not sure how I stumbled across your blog but I found you around the time of Reed's adoption and have been hooked every since!
I have a son who is 20 months old and see SO many similarities between he and Reed!
May God continue to bless your family as you bless so many others!

I became a fan recently, about 8 mos now and I truly enjoy reading your blog. Reed is such a delight and he is such a blessing to you and to us readers. Just looking at him smiling his goofy smile makes my day. I have a 23 mo old son that acts and almost looks like him. Cuties! God bless your family.

We bought MC a portable DVD player when she was three, right before we went on a twelve hour trip to Fl. It was great entertainment for her, but the only downside was that she watched the same Barney DVD over and over the entire trip and we had to listen to it! Try to get Reed to use the headphones from the beginning! She still has the player and knows that she's only allowed to use it on a trip that's at least two hours long.
We also have "screen time" rules here at home for the tv, computer and video games. MC saved her own money and bought a Nintendo DS a couple months ago. (Most of her friends have had these since Kindergarten or 1st grade) Before we let her buy it, we sat down together and made a list of rules about when and where she would be allowed to use it. No problems so far. (You should NEVER see it at church!!!) I think establishing rules from the beginning is the key. Hope this helps ease your fears of addiction!!

When did I begin reading? I guess it was when I met you all, but I really starting paying close attention when you went to pick up Reed and I was up late at night with Britton. I would read the blog while up at night feeding/rocking him.

Now, you've gotten me to start my own blog, we're going to CVS at midnight, and our sons are best friends!

Love you guys!

Happy 1000th post. I suppose I need to get a hobby b/c I think I've read them all. Sorry about the sleep issues. Doc says we have to let "The Princess" start to cry too. *sigh* Let me know about Sesame Street on demand. We only watch Elmo so that would be a great thing. Ellie got her first carry along Elmo this week. Ahh... the joys of Elmo -- again. Have a great Christmas you guys!!

I think I've been reading for several months. We're adopting a little girl from SLC in Tainan (Picking her up in 2.5 wks). I love all the pics of Reed and you inspire me with all your "CVS strategies". You do a great job blogging!

I think I've been reading since your gotcha day. Hannah Claire's mommy linked to you on that day (or somewhere around that day) and I've been reading ever since. I love seeing Reed grow up and feel like I know you all (including family and friends) even though I don't. :-) Thanks for sharing your stories!!

From the very moment that I knew of Reed and your blog...I have been there....with hopes, excitement and prayers about the wonderful child who was coming to be not only your son,but our first grandchild. Being so far away, the Blog is my vitamin every morning and my rest at night....just knowing that I have been able to see a part of his day. Keep up the good work and know that this grandmother cannot wait for you to come to visit us in Mississippi. (Soujack) Our little joke. Love, Enna

I've been "reeding" since you joined the JOH board. Actually, one of the reasons I started a blog myself was because I saw how much fun you made it and how great it could be. Flat Reed was fun, but 3-D Reed is WAY better!

I check your blog every day to see what's new in LandLife and what you score at CVS. That whole CVS thing facinates me, how you are able to work the system and get such great deals.

Take care. Hope you all had a wonderful and merry Christmas!
