2013 RobCo Fair Parade

Today I was checking my Facebook feed and I noticed that our friend Caitlin posted that today was the Robertson County fair parade. We have never been to the parade in our nine years here, so I decided that today would be the start of maybe a new tradition.

We were excited to see our beautiful friend,
May May. She was very beautiful sitting on the back of that convertible driven by her father.

The boys favorite part was when they would get candy and bring it to me and shove it in my pants pocket. Tuck gladly partook of the candy.

Will was a little shy at first. He wasn't so interested in it at first. He wouldn't move, which was both a blessing and a little scary. Scary because I've never seen him sit still before, blessing, because I was there with the four boys by myself. But he eventually worked up his nerve to go for the sugary goodness.

The boys enjoyed a good time. After the fair, we went to Aldi to buy some fruit.

My kids love strawberries and blueberries!

Nash's First Day of Kindergarten

Nash was so excited to finally be going to kindergarten. He has been a little disappointed that he didn't start at the same time as Reed. He was thrilled that it was finally his day.

So was his awesome big brother Reed. The boys wanted to ride in the car with me because my car on the way to school since I had to leave and go to work after we dropped Nash off. I loved listening to Reed and how he explained every detail including the directions for how to get to school even though Nash has always been in the car when Abbey was taking him to school. Reed also explained to Nash that recess would be his favorite time, because the playground had shredded tires for the ground.

Of course Abbey remember a special treat for Mrs. Sarah and even a little page to get her details so that we could show her appreciation this year. Lola was kind enough to buy all of the "wish list" supplies that Mrs. Sarah had.

We love our little Nash. We are so blessed to have him as our son. He is so sweet and has the most loving personality. Reed took a picture for us.

At school, Nash was a little timid at first, but I am sure that it only took him a few minutes to come out of his shell.

Will calls Nash his best friend so I am sure that it was a different day for Will not to have his buddy around all day.

Mrs. Sarah had blocks out on the table for the kids to play with when they got to class. Nash was excited because he loves building things.

We are so thankful that Nash has Mrs. Sarah. She is the best. We know that she will help Nash have an incredible year.

First Day of First Grade

Reed woke up super excited about his first day of first grade. He was really cheesing.

He is so cute. I can't believe that just 6 years ago we were bringing him home and now he is in first grade. He is just amazing.

He is so tall and so smart. They won't let us go in with anyone after Kindergarten so we don't get to go get first day pics. So far he has done well. He has his first spelling test tomorrow and it makes me a little nervous. We worked on them tonight.

Open House Nights

Last Monday night we went to Reed and Nash's open house. It was an orientation of sorts for Nash because his teacher had not yet been decided.

Reed was super excited to find his desk with a little treat from his new teacher, Mrs. Rachel. She was so sweet. I think that we are going to really like her this year.

She really made a cute door.

Mrs. Rachel was excited to meet Reed. She does call Mr. Land though, and that kind of makes me feel old.

The next night we went to Will's Open House. It took Will a long time to get acquainted with Mrs. Candi's room. Well, not really.

He is so funny. Whenever you get the camera out, he automatically takes his fingers and pretends to take a picture.

We love Mrs. Candi. She has taught Reed, Nash, and now Will. I'm thinking that she might meet her match this year. So far, she and Mrs. Emily report that he has been a "precious angel".

Nash even got to see his best bud, Luke. He was so happy. They love each other. They are the same age, but Luke is about 1.5 feet taller than Nash.

Houston, We Have a Kindergarten Graduate

I can hardly believe that I am able to type these words. Our precious, sweet little Reed is now a full-fledged kindergarten graduate. He had a great year.

Reed's great year is largely due in part to an amazing teacher, Mrs. Sarah. I don't think that we could have made it through kindergarten without her. She sent us sweet texts about things Reed did and occasionally would snap a picture of Reed and text it to us in the middle of the day. Reed loves Mrs. Sarah.

Reed's kindergarten graduation was sweet, but loooong and crowded. Apparently we weren't the only parents who were proud of our kids! Reed did a great job during the performance. And we held it together, mostly.

Lola, Uncle Bill, and Mrs. Candace joined us for the happy celebration. We are thankful to have such supportive family and friends.

Will is very proud of his Reedy.

The boys all enjoyed snacks in Mrs. Sarah's room after graduation. I can't believe that Reed is a first grader.

McLellan Family Reunion

Growing up in the South there are certain things that you do. Family Reunions are one of them. I always went to the McLellan family reunion as a kid and sometimes did it begrudgingly.

For the most part they were super fun. My first memories of the reunion was at my grandparents house in their backyard. It then moved to the Holmes County State park. At the park, me and my cousins would explore the trails the lake and the skating rink. It was always a fun time, kids playing and the "old folks" sitting around talking.

The last reunion that I attended was the summer that we got married almost 12 years ago. We moved away and the family reunion moved from Holmes County to Oxford, MS to a relative's farm. It was a ton of fun.

My boys may not grow up in Mississippi but I definitely want them to know about their Mississippi roots. Family is so important.

Reed made fast friends with his cousins, Saya, Luna, and Andrews. It was a super time. We will definitely go back next year.
