Friends and Family

The doctor told us the other day not to give Reed a bottle in the middle of the night. We've not given him a bottle at night all week. Reed has woken up quite happy and hungry after sleeping through the night! I have had a bit of trouble as I am an extremely light sleeper and he is sleeping so quietly that I can't even hear him breathing. So, before I go to work I "have" to go and check on him. Mommy, on the other hand, has no trouble sleeping.

Reed is a pretty messy eater sometimes!

Our loveseat came back from the couch hospital today. While the delivery guys were here, Mommy took Reed out for a photoshoot.

Reed got to deliver his first "Operation Christmas Child" boxes today to our church.

Reed absolutely loves grass. He is enamored with it!

Today, Friends and Family sale started at Gymboree (AKA Reed's College Fund Going Into Clothing). Reed's favorite sales associate, Mrs. Dianne, was there to play with him.

We did our fair share of clothing shopping tonight! Reed was thrilled to be helping pick his clothing!

Speaking of "friends and family," we had dinner with Nana and Putty Sprinkles tonight at Chick-Fil-A. They are our very dear friends and we consider them to be like our Nashville family, therefore it was fitting that they would be our dinner dates for "friends and family" day!

While we were at Chick-Fil-A, people in the drive-thru line waved inside to Reed. Then as we were leaving, a lady said, "That's a Gymboree outfit." We confirmed and she said that she worked there. She went on and on about how cute Reed was! So, I think that if Reed is getting the attention of the employees of a store that sees cute babies all day long, he must be pretty cute!

It's Moving Time!

The Big Move of 2007 is quickly approaching. Try less than one week now! So, last night we decided that we had better start packing! That's ingenious of us I know! Anyway, last night we started with the guest room. It is now completely empty except for the framed pictures which we don't plan on packing but just carrying over to the new house in the back of the van.

(By the way, the picture above has become a daily standard. We call this one "Reed Standing in the Window Wearing Brown Stripes")

Today was Reed's first real day to wear shoes as today was also very COLD! These are some ultra cute shoes from Wally World!

Reed is so excited about moving! He can't wait until he gets his new super-sized room and his very own play room. Okay, well, we are going to be sharing the bonus room!

When it was time to go to church, Mommy tried putting Reed's Polo jacket on. Aunt Ava gave him the jacket, she bought it before we even had a picture of Reed.

Reed didn't care who bought it, he just had one thought going through his mind, "If only I could my hands around Adam's neck I would choke him for making me have to wear CLOTHES!" Needless to say, I don't think that Reed will be naming any of my future grandchildren Adam or Eve.

Did I mention he didn't want the jacket on!?!?!

He is really cute in it! Reed wanted to send out a special greeting to Ms. Melanie who has made a special effort to use the computer just so she can read what Reed is doing! Now, Ms. Melanie, Reed dares you to try to post a comment!

Can You See Me Now?

"Uncle Brookie can you see me?"

"I thought you said I would see a deer if I would wear camo!"

Our BIL is determined to make Reed a hunter, so when he came for a visit a few weeks ago he brought Reed a camo sweatsuit. Reed got to wear it today. Mommy was not expecting a really eventful day, but daddy called and asked them to come eat lunch with him. So, Reed got to wear his camo to Daddy's work!

It was good that Mommy and Bubber came to town because they ended up having to run some errands for the house. Our closing is scheduled for next week, and there were a few things that we needed to get done TODAY!

An aside: Don't you just love some mortgage people? We have had all of our stuff to them for oh, 3 weeks, and well, they decided to call today and tell us that they needed some different forms. WHEN DID THEY NEED THEM YOU ASK? Today! What's the deal?

BACK TO THE REGULAR BLOGGING! Since mommy didn't realize she would be out so long, she didn't bring any baby food. I met them at Target on my way home and we bought some. Some of the types were on sale for $.88 each, but when we got to the check-out we found that they were all $.88. That's a great deal! So, I went back in and bought a few more containers.

This is REED experiencing his first bite of corn (AKA Daddy's FAVORITE FOOD!).

I think he liked it!

A lot!

Did I say a few more packages of baby food? Umm ... make that 70.

For those of you who know me, and well anyone who has followed this blog for any length of time knows that I don't really do anything "a little," so why should me buying 70 packages of baby food really be surprising?

Jane went home today and we already miss her! We want her to move up here! She needs to find a job!

Mommy and Daddy's Date

Tonight Mommy and Daddy went on a date. Don't worry, Jane stayed at home with me. But before they could go out, Mommy and Jane took me to the doctor. I have a little place on my eye that everyone was worried about. As you can see I handled the whole ordeal very well.

Dr. Crawford even looked in my eye and I never woke up. She gave me a prescription to help my eye get all better. She also told Mommy that I can start eating stage 2 Gerber foods and some table foods liked mashed potatoes, which I am very excited about. When I woke up I was a very happy baby boy.

Then that other woman came in with my flu shot! I wasn't happy after she got done with me, but she did give me a yellow band-aid.

We stopped Sonic on the way home, but I didn't get anything. Apparently Sonic isn't considered part of stage 2. Jane did offer to let me have some of hers.

When we got home from the doctor, Daddy was already here. Not long after that someone pulled up in the driveway. Daddy was holding me so he made Mommy answer the door. He is the best daddy in the whole wide world! (My mommy is also the best!) It was the flower delivery guy, Daddy sent Mommy flowers! They are so pretty.

Jane and I played for a while, but eventually I got hungry. Tonight I had green beans and peaches. I like peaches better than green beans. I also like to hold the spoon, but no one lets me.

I did get a hold of it once tonight...I am very strong and thought I was going to win, but Jane just wouldn't give up. However, I showed her and when I finally let go she ended up with peaches on her face and in her hair. When I finally finished my dinner, she let me have the spoon.

It has been a very busy day and I am so tired. I think I will turn in early tonight. That will help Jane get things cleaned up downstairs and pack her suitcase. She has to go back to Florida tomorrow. I sure hope Mommy and Daddy have a good time tonight.

While I Was Out

"Mommy, do you promise that Daddy is coming home today?"

"Where is he? Oh, he's flying through Dallas so he'll probably be delayed?"

That would be what you would think right, but that's just not what happened! I made it home with no delays!

Here's a few other pics from the time that I was gone!

Last night Reed and Britton were staring at each other again!

I think that they tried wrapping Reed up like a mummy!

Today, Reed, Abbey, and Jane went to the Schoolhouse for lunch and Jane got to experience a "Fried Oreo Sundae!"

Costume Party

Tonight Mommy, Jane, and Reed went to a costume party at our friends' house. Mommy and Jane went as Salt and Pepper, Reed went as well, a monkey! Big surprise there I am sure!

Reed went to get his haircut yesterday. This time he went to a different place called "Snip-its." Abbey liked it better than the last place that we took him to. It was more boy friendly. The last place was too much glitter!

Sorry about the sideways pics, but for some reason, I forgot to turn them around. I guess it is late and I didn't feel like being a good editor. Here are our friends Jimmy and Meilyn, although tonight they are Brangelina.

Apparently Reed tried making a phone call to me today. He was trying to call, but mommy didn't help him. I think that was kind of mean. I would have loved to have talked to him.

Reed is so cute when he is sleepy. He is wearing his new onesie in this picture that Mrs. Sarah from Hannah Claire's Web site sent him.

I am amazed, but Mommy was able to get a picture of Reed's tooth today. You see it poking through here in the picture don't you?

I had a good day of conference teaching today. We finished around 3:00, then Uncle Bill and I went to Hollywood, then Beverly Hills, then Santa Monica. We ate at this pizza dive in SM because we were starving and finally just decided to stop somewhere. It was really good, but was even more entertaining. The lady working the counter had taken this other lady's money. The other lady swore that she had given her a $10 and the clerk swore that she had only given her $5.00. From there, an all our yelling war ensued. They aregued for about 10 minutes until eventually the clerk gave in and gave her change to her. The lady then demanded a full refund to which the other lady would not oblige. Then, the clerk proceeded to tell everyone who walked in afterwards, including us, who had HEARD every bit of the situation occur, what had happened. She even began to call people to tell them in English and Italian. Finally, two guys came in and one was holding a hollowed out beer can with flowers in it. He gave them to the lady and said, "I wanted to make sure you got some flowers on your last day." Apparently, the lady was retiring around 9:00 PM tonight! Who would have thought someone who was retiring would have put up such a fight?

Anyway, I am ready to see my wife and baby. I will tomorrow!

While I am Supposed to Be Eating

Sorry for the late Friday night post! I am in California to teach a conference so I am a little behind! It's only 9:15 here! I should be asleep, but I don't want to keep any pictures of our beautiful baby from you.

Reed seems to think of about a million things to do while he is eating his food in his highchair. One of his favorite discoveries is his pointer finger. Whether it is in his mouth, your mouth, my nose, or just plain pointing, he loves to use it. Seen here, he is showing mommy the fine stitch work someone did while sewing the straps on his highchair cushion.

Here, I am just guessing, but he is not impressed with whatever mommy put in his mouth!

Oh look, there's that strap again!

Sometimes he thinks that if he shrinks enough in his seat that he won't have to eat all of his veggies! That's just not the case. Mommy tries the "fruit/veggie/fruit/veggi" combo. I use the big spoonfuls of veggies until he screams then a spoonful of fruit!

"Mommy, I think I just saw a fruit puff on the floor over there!"

"I'll feed myself this time!" Almost Bubber, almost, the curved end is supposed to go in your mouth!!

That's it! Good Job!

Reed loves to use his hands. Sometimes we have to hold them in order to keep them from grabbing the spoon and knocking the food off it!

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday, Reed and Mommy went to the pumpkin patch with Mrs. Tamara and Britton. It was a beautiful day!

Reed and Britton are still trying to figure each other out. Currently, they are more interested in staring at each other than they are interacting.

I think that Reed was extremely cute amongst all of those little pumpkins.

Reed was very interested in the little pumpkins. I think that he wanted to bring one home, but mommy didn't get him one! I'm not sure why!

As I look at this picture one thing is running through my mind: "Are his feet really that big or is mommy just so desperate for Bubber to where a pair of shoes that she put some great big shoes on him?"

Another example of Reed and Britton just trying to figure each other out.

Here's a picture of the pumpkin cake that mommy made for the cake walk last night at the Harvest Festival at church.
