Reed is Trying to Crawl!

Reed loves to play on our bed. Especially when he has just awoke from nearly 12 hours of sleep! Way to go, Reedo!!!

Of course, last night was Mommy's night to get up with Reed was last night and he only woke up once in that 12 hours. He just took a quick bottle and went back to sleep.

He was so quiet that when I left this morning at 5:50, I went in his room and put my hand on his back to make sure he was still breathing! I've heard that this is not abnormal for parents to do.

Mommy and Daddy wanted to have a comfy bed, so this past Christmas we got a nice new mattress. Then, we got nice soft sheets and comforter. Apparently, Reed was quite happy with our decision because he seems to have found our bed really comfortable.

This is Reed's attempt to crawl. You'll see some clothed pictures and video of him trying to crawl. It's more of an "I'm swimming in air" kind of crawl. Not a lot of forward movement.

He's trying to push up, but he can't quite get his hand and legs to work together.

It's sure fun trying, though!

Mommy reports that he has had a happy day. He seems to have gotten over the "yucky" after-shots feeling that he had for several days. That's great, because we love having our happy baby back!

I am not sure if it's baby yoga or pilates, but this kid can get into some of the strangest positions. One night we'll have to sneak in his room and take pictures of him throughout the night so you can see how active he is in his sleep.

One thing is for absolute sure, Abbey and I LOVE being parents. It is the greatest. I didn't get home at my normal time this afternoon because I had a doctor's appointment, so we didn't get to go on our walk. Reed knew I was missing and he started kicking and flailing as soon as he saw me. That didn't do anything for the ole ego (yeah right!).

Home Alone 3: Mommy's First Day

First of all, we must give props to mommy. She was home alone for the first time today with Reed and she made the bed and Reed got dressed! Woo-hoo! Most people might think, big whoop, she made the bed. But, our bed has 11 decorative pillows not counting everything else! My goodness, Reed has a good mommy and I have a good wife.

Reed looked really cute in his "All American Baby" outfit. But, when does he not look cute?

Reed is really into Flat Reed.

Every night we have to weed out pictures and decide which one makes it and which ones aren't. This one, was a definite keeper!

Reed loves playing in his pack-n-play while mommy straightens up the living room.

Although the toys are a lot of fun, he finds a lot of recreation in playing with screens in the Pack-n-play.

Reed and mommy got to make a special trip to Nashville because Daddy's contact ripped on the way to work this morning. He reads a lot at work and couldn't really do it with one eye! Mommy and Reed got to eat lunch with Daddy, Uncle Bill, and Mrs. Klista.

When Reed got home, he wanted to Reed. He loves his books.

I'm really proud of him for being able to know to have the book turned right side up.

At some point Reed must have messed up his clothes, because when Daddy came home he was wearing his "Made in Taiwan" onesies and cargo shorts. That was perfect for his afternoon walk. Is it his afternoon walk, or let Daddy put me to sleep time?

We don't get a lot of talking done when we are walking because, well, he falls asleep almost immediately.

He's just so sweet though, that I have spend my time walking him. I know that he knows that its special time with Daddy!

All in all, mommy had a great day with Reed. We even had Raleigh and her family and Mrs. Jennifer over for supper. Well, they brought supper!

Question of the Day!!!?!?!?!?!?

Last year we had 4 Christmas trees, and we bought another Christmas tree after Christmas, bringing the total to 5 trees. How many will we put up this year?

Reed's Big Adventure!!!!

We still weren't feeling 100% this morning and I didn't want to risk giving 20 preteens the virus that we had, so we didn't go to church this morning. Lola was planning on leaving on Friday, but she couldn't because she got the virus. Then she couldn't yesterday because I was sick. Today, if she didn't leave, I think Pop Rox would have come to get her.

This is right before Lola left, but she hadn't started tearing up yet. I would have loved to have seen her by the time she got to the Interstate.

After we all had soup at Panera, the three of us (that's fun to type) went to see Nana and Putty Sprinkles in their new home! It is so nice and big! We're thinking about moving in! No, really, we are going to be housesitters for them. Hopefully, a hot tub is in the near future!

Putty Sprinkles had to go to church, but Nana Sprinkles stayed home to play with Reedo. They had lots of fun together.

Reed especially loved the hardwood floors in the living room. He could spin like a lazy susan on those floors.

Next, Reed took his first trip to Target! Yes, can you believe that Reed made it a whole week in America without making it to Target? We weren't feeling up to it, but we finally started feeling good enough to get out of the house. That was good, because we were going STIR crazy couped up in our house!

Reed was as taken with Target as we are. He did manage to pick out several items: a rubber ducky inflatable bathtub for his best friend Britton, some new nipples for his bottle, a new doormat, and he even sprang for some popcorn for Mommy and Daddy.

By the way, Enna, we need some of those "cart" things so Reed doesn't have to sit directly on them.

Finally, we ate at O'Charleys with Reed's girlfriend Raleigh. Raleigh apparently thought we were all pretty boring because she hardly even opened her eyes! She was very sleepy!

Reed asked Raleigh what she was eating because he couldn't understand why she was so tiny! We had to explain to Reed that he was a little older and really enjoyed food a lot!

We'll have to get some video of Reed eating cereal. He turns into the "cookie monster" of rice cereal eaters! It's hilarious!

Quote of the day: "Oh good, we can have him bathed and all be asleep by 9:00." - Mommy

Reed's Laughs at Mama

Thanks for all of your prayers for the sickest house in Tennessee! We are feeling somewhat better. Thank goodness Abbey got her dose of the virus first and Lola's came somewhat in-between Abbey's and mine. I am trying to forge through it, however, if you live near us, STAY AWAY! You do not want this! Back-achines, headaching, unmentionable stomach troubles, and severe body pain. It's like a 24 severe flu.

I have slept most of the day and am headed back up to bed in a moment, but didn't want to let the blog fans down. Above is a video that Reed and Mama shot. Watch how Reed laughs everytime she says "Mama."

Above is a picture of Reed and I trying to watch "High School Musical" yesterday before I got the plague. Suddenly, I realize why I might have gotten so stomach-turning sick. I'm sorry, I don't really see the greatness that America's 6-12-year-olds see in it (or, my wife and I am sure many other adults for that matter). I was doing "research" for my job to see what the big deal is.

New Look and Picture Postponements

You can thank my sister, Ava, for giving our blog a new, updated look. Thanks, Aunt Ava!

I have finally begun to recover from the nasty virus I had. Unfortunately, Lola (my Mom) picked it up early this morning. After a trip to the doctor, she's been asleep for most of the day. Then, Jeff got it this evening. Luckily, we made it to the clinic before they closed, thanks to Tamara, our friend. Reed did great, considering all that was happening. He even fell asleep on the way home. Now, both patients are resting quite nicely, and Reed is going to share his bedroom with me tonight.
So, no pictures until we're mended. We promise to get back to regularly scheduled programming as soon as possible.

Reed Meets Britton!

When Daddy came home from work today, he was very sleepy. He started looking like he was going to lay down for a nap and mommy said, "I hope that you don't think that you're going to take a nap." To which I replied, "I guess not."

Daddy noticed that Reed was a little sleepy looking, so he thought, "If I take him for a ride in the stroller, he'll take a nap." That worked, but not after the stroller ride stopped.

Reed was so excited that his best friend Britton was coming over that he could not take a long nap. Well, actually, our great little napper in Taiwan is not a great little napper here in America.

But that doesn't really matter, because Daddy loves his little boy and he can stay awake to play with him, even if he is sleepy! I seem to recall a post where Mommy took a picture of Daddy before baby was here and it was titled, "Daddy's last nap." I guess I didn't get the message.

(By the way Tessa, the picture of the hat will come, give us a minute!)

Reed's best friend Britton came over tonight and it was nice to finally get them to meet each other! They were never in the same happy mood at the same time for a very long time, but there were a few moments when they enjoyed wearing their sunglasses!

It really didn't last long, though! It was alright, because it was good to get to see Britton's mommy and daddy. Plus, they brought Chick-fil-A! It's the first time that we've had it since we've been home.

Here are the mommies with the babies. Notice, Reed's mommy has a cute new haircut! She's trying to lead by example, hoping that Daddy will hurry up and get his mop trimmed.

And now for the cutest picture of the day!

Reed's Aunt Jean brought Reed this cute elephant towel! Isn't it great?

Going to the Doctor

Before I start this blog, let me update you on our patient Abbey. Last night, around 10 PM, Abbey was really not well and I took her to the ER. She was dehydrated and had to get 2 liters of fluid via IV. She slept most of the night and today. She is doing better this evening.

Reed slept from 8:30 - 3:30 before he woke for his bottle. We got back from the ER at 2:00 AM, so it was nice to get an 1.5 of sleep before I got up to give him his bottle. Reed takes his bottle like he's driving a Nascar, so in no time at all he was back asleep. That excludes the few minutes that I had to change his PJs, because he started teeteeing while I was changing him. At some point I noticed light coming in the window and Reed started wiggling. It was nearly 7:00 AM!!! Woo-hoo!

I went back to sleep and let Lola play with Reed. When it was nearing time to go to the doctor, we decided that we needed to get Reed ready. Lola has as much trouble with his footed PJs as Daddy does!

At the doctor, we first had to be measured and weighed.

Getting one of the Wiggles to be still is kind of hard, but we think we got a pretty accurate measurement of 27 inches.

Before Reed was weighed, he had to get his diaper off.

Reed was very interested in how much he weighed. And the grand total is ... 20 pounds!

Reed enjoys being all naturale, so it was a little difficult getting the diaper back on.

Once back in the examining room, Reed realized that the nice people at the clinic had remembered to cover the examine table with paper! How exciting!

Reed played with the paper.

Then, he played with the paper some more.

After he was done playing with the paper, he decided that he would play with the paper a little longer!

You get the picture.

Reed likes to "pretend" like he is sleepy.

Finally, the doctor came in and she brought Reed a new book. That was very sweet of her.

She was very kind and was very helpful in answering all of our questions. Mommy had us loaded with questions to ask since she was too sick to come to the doctor with Reed. I hope that we remembered to ask all of the questions.

The doctor was a little worried that Reed might be shy around her. Ha!

Reed loved the doctor's examining tool. It was so fascinating.

And to Reed, it looked DELICIOUS!

Reed lost his respect for the tool when he learned what the true use of the tool was. He really didn't care for it being in his ear!

The doctor had a special tool that she used to get earwax deep out of Reed's ear! Can you imagine how excited Reed was about this?

Reed was not overly impressed by his doctor visit. I think he sort of found it to be a bore. So, he fell asleep, especially during the rapid fire questioning from daddy and Lola about what Reed should be eating, how long he should be sleeping, what his poopy should look like, etc.

Laid back!

For your reading enjoyment, I have omitted the next few minutes' worth of photos where Reed was rudely awakened from his peaceful slumber to get 3 shots!

Now, back to your regularly scheduled blogging.

Reed was nice and calm once Daddy picked him up and held him for a few moments.

All dressed and ready to go show all the kids in the playpen his battle wounds!

I can hear it now, "You think that's bad, I got 3 shots and the lady didn't even stop when I couldn't catch my breath! It was all cool though!"

Apparently, the nurse was wrong. She said that the shots wouldn't make Reed drowsy, however, at 7:35 he couldn't hold his eyes open. Now, let's see how he sleeps!
