Thanksgiving Revisited!
We had Thanksgiving again on Thursday, when most other Americans were celebrating Thanksgiving. We had Manya and Alyssa from work.
Abbey once again created an amazing spread.
The next day Abbey and Manya went shopping early, so Reed and I fixed cinnamon rolls for breakfast.
Reed loves the icing.
It was yummy.
Later Reed and I went riding on the boom boom.
It's really called a plasma car, and Reed likes it a lot.
He loves to be outside.
I was so proud of him when he figured out how to make it move the way it was designed.
You move the steering wheel back and forth and it makes it move.
After the boom boom, we decided to hang out in our backyard.

Potty Training Day 1
Before "reed"ing this post, I must warn you, Reed doesn't have much clothing on in the pictures. Potty training is easier with no pants!
We knew it was coming. The inevitable was bound to happen and there was really no way to avoid it. We decided that since I was off work this week, it would be a good time to start potty training. Besides, I am really tired of buying diapers.
It started off really rough! I was a little nervous. We had three accidents pretty much in a row. Our timing was off a little bit. We were on 15 minute intervals, so we adjusted down to 10 minutes. And ... yes, we timed to the minute using the microwave as the timer.
Once we got our timing right, he was peepeeing like a champ. And he has VERY little experience with the potty. We've tried to get him interested, but he just hasn't.
Before long, we were working like clockwork and he was even starting to let us know when he was ready to peepee. Our issue at this point, was he kept saying he needed to poopoo and not peepee.
We were thrilled when Reed woke up dry from his nap.
The fourth accident happened about 6:30, about 9 hours after the previous accident.
That's pretty good for day 1, I think! Plus, I think I've might lost a little weight because I have been up and down the stairs 3000 times!
Enjoy a couple of videos;

Thanksgiving Saturday!
Pop, Lola, and Aunt Ava arrived around midday for a little Thanksgiving celebration.
Abbey has been working really hard this week to get everything ready. The house was spotless and the food was prepared.
We had Honey Baked Ham and Smoked Turkey. Pop did the turkey carving.
Reed impressed everyone with his "cartwheels."
He was quite energetic, but they thought he was a little subdued. We finally got some medicine that will help him get over this pesky cough.
The table was set.
The food was prepped. It was yummy!
I forgot to add this one last picture of some lights and Christmas decorations. The deer are from Abbey's grandmother. She passed away a few months back as you recall. We touched up the paint.

Cough, Cough
Reed has a really cruddy cough right now. I called the Peds and asked what we could do. Since no over-the-counter medicine is given to kids younger than 6 anymore, it makes it a little difficult.
Thankfully, we were able to make an appointment for Reed to go to the Dr. in the morning.
We have been giving Reed small doses of Robitussin for kids, which has helped his cough some. But, unlike his dad who gets completely zonked when he takes cough medicine of any sort, Reed gets completely wired and defiant!
His behavior has been a little troubling for me, because for some reason, I really have strong feelings about Reed needing to respect me. I think I am becoming my dad.
On of our struggles with discipline is the fact that Reed is extremely witty and knows exactly how cute he is. This afternoon at the park, after repeatedly taking his shoes off, we gave him the ultimatum that if the shoes came off again, we were leaving. It was all of 10 seconds later that his shoes came flying off. I picked him up and headed to the car.
On the way to the car, realizing that I meant business, Reed decided to sing a new and hilarious version of "Old McDonald." Thankfully, I was mad enough that even though it was cute, I didn't crack a smile. We got to my Jeep, I put him into his carseat and made him talk about why he was being punished.
All this to say, I am hoping when he gets off these medicines, he will return to the well-mannered child I remember.

Operation Christmas Child - Sunday School Party
Yesterday, we had our Sunday School Christmas party. We decided that we would put boxes together for Operation Christmas Child, so we had to have our Christmas party early.
We have an AMAZING group of preteens this year! I just love them.
They are silly and sweet.
After church, we went to Pizza Hut for the buffet and then we all headed to Wal-Mart.
I had the boys with the help of Kaylee's father, Travis. Abbey took part of the girls' group, and Candace took the other half. D'ann and Lee Ann helped them.
They were so much fun to watch shop. They were also very generous so we were able to blow past our original goal of 20 boxes and head straight to 31 boxes.
Look at all this loot!
Here's some of the items for the girls' boxes.
Some of the things for the boys boxes.
The assembly line.
Becca made sure that Reed had a learning experience as well.
We pray Reed will always be a generous giver.
31 boxes.
So great to see preteens' happily, gladly, generously giving to other preteens in parts of the world that are less fortunate.
