Family Night Supper

Tonight, we were invited over to Oma and Papa's for supper with their family. Reed loves to go over to Oma and Papa's because they have the most incredible little courtyard with a beautiful Coy pond.

Britton and Reed love to look at the fish and wave to them.

Reed really loves fish, especially since he got his own aquarium. I think that he would touch the fish if he could.

Britton could not believe what Reed told him!

Reed liked talking to Oma through the screen door.

As Abbey aptly said tonight, I don't think it is a question of if, but when the boys try jumping into the pond!

After nightfall, the boys went inside to read books.

These boys love to read books!

A Day With Britty

Britty's grandmother had a doctor's appointment today, so he got to stay with Abbey and Reed. Of course, Reed was thrilled to have his best friend over for the day.

Abbey said that the boys played and played. When I got home from work around 4:00, Reed and Britton had not had a nap yet. I took Reed to his room, and Abbey took Britty to the family room. Britty went to sleep, but Reed wouldn't.

Abbey had to go to the grocery store, so Reed and I cleaned up the disaster area that he and Britton created today.

After we were done cleaning, Britton had woken up and we went outside for a walk in the wagon.

In other news, I must share a bit of very exciting news. For the past week, we have been working hard to get Reed to sleep in his own bed. So, last Monday night we declared OSIYOB (Operation: SLEEP IN YOUR OWN BED) officially on. It was a tough few days. Abbey and I alternated sleeping upstairs to make sure we put Reed back in his own bed when he awoke crying. We told Pop and Lola about our plans and they supported our decision while we were home this weekend. So, here's the exciting news. Last night, I put Reed in bed at 9:00 and by 9:05 he was finished wimpering and we didn't here another peep from him until 7:00 AM!!! WOO HOO!! Now, let's see what happens tonight!

Now, click on the picture above to watch what Reed and Britton did today.

Monkey Joe's

There's a play place not far from our home that is called Monkey Joe's. In it, are all kinds of inflatables and several mechanical ride-on toys.

Today Reed, Britton, and the maternals went to Monkey Joe's for a little indoor fun in the midst of all the rain.

The boys are still a little small for the place to be able to play all by themselves, but they did have a good time.

Of course, Reed had a great time sliding.

Tomorrow, we are loading up the van, picking up Manya and Uncle Bill and heading to good ol' Mississippi. I have to teach a conference in Clinton, MS tomorrow night and we're going to spend the weekend with Poppy and Enna. We're going to get to see Aunt Ava and Uncle Brookie, and will even get to see Pop and Lola on the way back into Tennessee on Sunday.

Uncle Bill is going to get a fun experience of "the real" Mississippi. Not a touristy picture perfect view, but the real deal. We're going to take him to Durant. That's going to be an experience.

Midweek Update

Reed had a very busy day today.

First, he woke up and had breakfast.

Then, he and Mama looked for the camera.

They couldn't find it.

They went with Britton and his Mama to the zoo and met Stacy, Hudson, and Cooper.

They played, saw Monkeys (hee hee), Meer cats, and snakes (ssss .... Ewww!) and had a picnic.

He came home and took a nap.

I came home, Reed was still asleep and Abbey was cooking supper.

I looked for the camera and finally found it. Anybody want to guess where? Leave a comment.

We ate supper in peace ... I mean, we ate supper while Reed finished his nap.

When Reed woke up, he ate supper and then we went to church.

My Super Sweet 2 Birthday!

Abbey did the most amazing job planning Reed's birthday party. It was a blast!

She made a "hot air balloon" cake for him. It was really cute.

Reed was super excited when he arrived at the clubhouse for his birthday party. He was mesmerized by the balloons and bubbles everywhere!

It was very exciting to him.

His friend Karsten came from his school.

Of course, his very best friend Britton was there too.

Miss Betty, his Sunday School teacher, Raleigh, Miss Jennifer, Miss Holly, Nana Sprinkles, my goodness, there were so many people there to help Reed celebrate.

Even Kay Kay came!

Pop was excited to see Reed.

Aunt Ava personalized Reed's shirt.

Reed's friend Haden from school came to the party and helped Reed open his presents since he wasn't really into opening them.

Reed and Britton were interested in some of his presents.

Britton and his Auntie Meghan gave Reed this cute red car. Reed loves his new car.

Aunt Ava and Lola helped Reed put together a puzzle.

Poppy and Reed were silly!

Enna and Reed admired his MANY (seriously) balloons!

Reed's birthday was a great success! I think everyone involved had a great time!

Super Bowl Sunday!

Reed had a great weekend. We were home and he was living it up.

He had a nice yummy sucker.

He enjoyed the nice sunshine from the inside and then later we went outside.

He loves this puzzle book that Oma and Papa gave him for Christmas.

He's to that age where he can actually put the puzzle pieces in the right place.

Our subdivision has a neat little play area that we went to enjoy yesterday. The air was crisp but the sun was bright.

Reed loved climbing the stairs.

He had a fun time seeing the "dog" next door.

He really liked the disc swing although it scared me a little bit to have it.

We were just excited to be out of the house!

Tonight, we went over to Britton's to watch the Super Bowl. Britton's parents teach the seniors so they came over, along with Bill and Manya.

Reed could have cared less about the ballgame.

This was his reaction after the cardinals got their last minute touchdown, just before giving the ballgame away.

We were disappointed in the outcome, but had fun with friends.

Added by Abbey: Please note that Reed's outfit in the last few pictures was not by choice. We were at Britton's and he needed a new pair of pants after a fun diaper. Apparently Tamara was low on pants, so this is what we ended up borrowing until the party was over.
