An Ode to Red Sneakers - By Reed

I got some red sneakers from my friend, Aunt Bitsy.
They are bright and clean to keep me busy!

They help me walk around the room.
I like to run really fast; vroom, vroom.

My red sneakers help me to walk and play.
Like I did outside today.

My cool new duds help me to work on my car.
Wearing them makes me feel like a star.

This afternoon I had to work under my hood.
My red sneakers, oh, they felt so good.

My new shoes helped me find a good snack.
That's really good when hunger can suddenly attack!

I love my red shoes so very much.
I bet they would be fun to splash in the mud and such.

I wore them right up until I got in the tub.
When Daddy finally said, "Time to take them off, Bub."

Those red sneakers are so very neat.
They even helped me not get sweaty feet!

Those kicks to take off was a hard to do.
Can you believe I've written this all about a red shoe?

For my bath, I like to help get ready.
With toys, soap, and time with my Daddy.

Those red shoes helped me get quite a laugh.
When Daddy saw all the stuff I put in my bath.

"Oh no Daddy, where's all my stuff."
These red sneakers are neat, even when I'm in the buff.

These new red sneakers are special to me.
Because they were a gift from Aunt Bibbi.

It's A Beautiful Day!

Just for Fun: Where's Reedo?

Reed and Mommy recuperated from the long weekend at Pop Rox and Lola's. It must have been some kind of weekend, because they hardly did anything today.

Do you think that this is a signal that Reed was tired? He normally does not give this kind of symbol that he is ready for a nap. Generally, his nap mood is not really pleasant. Today was a different story.

When I got home from work, Reed was SO FUNNY! HE was laughing and smiling and giggling. This was him trying to avoid another nap. I really cannot describe in words how funny he was. He just laughed and laughed.

Abbey said that he had been avoiding a nap all afternoon. I decided that I would take him in the guest room and lay down. I know this sounds unlike me, but I really had no intentions of falling asleep. I really needed to mow the yard!

Despite my valiant efforts to stay awake, I succumbed to the gentle whir of my baby boy's snore and fell fast asleep. We must have been REALLY sleeping, because somehow we missed Abbey leaving to go for a walk with Tamara. Finally, around, 5:40, Reed and I woke up!

Reed and I went for a walk around the 'hood when we woke up. Reed smiled, waved, and talked to everyone we saw.
After we came home, Reed ate supper. He had chicken nuggets, peas, and fruit cocktail.

Next, we went to Wal-Mart, because I need to buy some yard care supplies and Reed needed milk.

Finally, we came home and cleaned the upstairs while Abbey was at her Bible Study at church. It was soon time for Reed's bath and bottle.

Now, for a quick side note. We have really gotten in to watching "Jon and Kate: Plus 8" on TLC. Those kids are so cute, but does anyone besides me think Kate is really mean to Jon? I am glad I have a sweet wife who isn't mean to me!

Home Again, Home Again ...

Before Reed and Abbey left Memphis, they had to have lunch with the fam. I think Lola was holding onto Reed pretty tight.

Reed saw an airplane in the sky, so he was pointing up towards me. He knew that it was time to get back home to see his daddy. (Note: I really have no clue what he was pointing at, but I think that it is fair to assume that he was pointing at a plane that I was in. Don't you? I mean, he is above average intelligence.)

Thanks to American Airlines and our illustrious airport, it took about 45 minutes for my luggage to come out on the carousel. That meant that Abbey and Reed were only a few miles behind me when I got to our exit off the interstate. I called Abbey and asked her to meet me at Sonic, because I WAS READY TO SEE MY FAMILY!

Reed was about as thrilled to see me as I was to see him! After Abbey and I talked for a few minutes, I got Reed out of the mommy van and put him in my Jeep. We went to the car wash, where Reed was amazed. He pointed at every different part of the car wash.

After we got home, we decided to invite the Oliver's to go with us to Cracker Barrel to eat supper.

Apparently Reed was zonked, because he fell asleep on the way home, well before his new bedtime. I am so glad that my family is home! I think we're better together than we are apart!

Tomorrow, we're planning on seeing if Reed has the same affinity for lawn mowers as he does for vacuums.

All Eyes on Reed

Enjoy the pictures...there's a bit of commentary below them.

Reed has been in constant motion since arriving at Lola and Pop Rox's. And, all eyes have been following him! He's been lapping up all the extra attention and really showing off! For example, he demonstrated his excellent ability to catch a ball today! Don't worry; I captured it on video. However, you'll have to wait until Jeff gets home to see it. I have no idea how to post those. I've decided I need to take a mini lesson on Picasa and such from Jeff, so you blog readers out there don't suffer when I have the computer!

While Tricia over at www.cfhusband.blogspot.com has been learning to live with her new lungs, apparently I'm trying to get rid of one of mine, along with my voice! So, I'm sorry to say there won't be much (okay, any) commentary under each picture. I will tell you Reed has spent a good deal of his day opening and closing the back door. In one picture, you can see Mollie and Belle through the door, not too happy with the tease. And, we also celebrated my mom's birthday (yesterday) and my dad's (13th) with an awesome cake my sister made. We spent some of that celebration time at J.Alexander's tonight. When we got home, Reed decided to entertain us all. I promise everyone has been holding Reed, but I only have pictures of Reed by himself, for the most part.

Ugh!

Just remember, Jeff made the promise of new pictures, not me. Unfortunately, I'm a little under the weather. I took some medicine, which made me loopy and sleepy...so no pictures tonight. Maybe tomorrow? Apparently Jeff is sick, too, and he's lost his voice - not so good when you are teaching conferences! Reed is happy, soaking up all the attention of Lola and Pop Rox. Bad weather in MS delayed my sister and bil from coming tonight, but they promised to get up early and head this way to visit their favorite nephew (he's their only nephew right now, but still...). Also, Reed would like to wish his (too young to be a grandmother) Lola a Happy Birthday!

OOT

We're out of town. I'm on business in Oklahoma and Abbey is headed to Memphis by way of Jackson, TN, so I don't have any pictures tonight. Abbey promised she would put some up tomorrow. I now know how you all feel when you don't get daily pictures!

In the meantime, enjoy the cute ones I have posted this week!

Hey Reed ... What's Up With Your Belly?

Reed loves this stool! His great uncle and aunt sent it to him for his birthday. It is supremely cute, the only thing is that he HATES it when the letters are in it. It's kind of funny, because I really like order, like puzzle pieces in the right place, pieces to a game in the right place, but Reed on the other hand, HATES ORDER!

Mommy thought it would be funny if she slipped Reed's ball into his shirt. Reed thought it was pretty funny, too!

He enjoyed walking around and trying to figure out how to get it out of his shirt.

He's looking more like me everyday!

Reed finally figured out how to get the ball out of his shirt and then he got to play with it.

Apparently, we are not giving Abbey enough attention, so she took some pictures of her rings today. I did a good job didn't I?

We love you Mommy (Abbey)!

Please be praying for Tricia! She's getting a new set of lungs as I type!

The Past Couple of Days!

The past couple of days have been very busy for Reed. Yesterday was, "I am a happy boy" day, when it seemed that Reed was happy the whole day.

Reed's name suits him so well. He just loves to read. We are trying to encourage this as we are pretty sure college is going to be expensive for him and we'd love a scholarship!

His eyelashes are unbelievably long, don't you think?

Tonight at supper, we were practicing saying please, and Reed is getting so much better at this. He is starting to learn his l's. So now, it is kind of like "pliss".

Today, Reed had a huge breakthrough at MDO. He kind of pushed her away and was ready to go play. This is definitely a change from the crying that has been experienced the past couple of times.

He is growing up too quickly!

We are thinking that a new tooth is going to be making an appearance very soon. If he drool is any indication, it's going to be a really big tooth!
