Reed Visits Daddy at Work

Reed came to visit Daddy today at work. It's been a while since he and Abbey came to see me at work, so they had to come in.

Reed decided that he needed to rearrange Daddy's bookshelves for him.

It was tough for him to decide what needed to come out and what needed to stay.

He definitely needed that book that was just out of his reach.

"Daddy, your office is so funny!"

Reed decided that he needed to walk down the hall and visit Mrs. Trudy.

Notice his tongue sticking out slightly from his mouth. Apparently, this tongue helps him to balance himself when he is standing.

Everyone's heads always pop out of their manuscripts when Reed is on the floor. It's not that hard to quit editing long enough to come outside and see the Reedster. Mrs. Rachel (the baby's curriculum editor) always gets on the floor because she knows that Reed only sees what is at his height.

Mrs. Jessica (the best graphic designer EVER!), helped lift Reed up to play with some of the pink balloons outside of Sadie Wen's Daddy's door.

I love it when Reed and Abbey come to visit me at work! It's always a wonderful treat for everyone!

School Day!

Today was Reed's day to go to school. When he goes to MDO, that means that Mommy can get a little break and also she can clean the house without Reed uncleaning the house right behind her.

She was especially proud to get the bonus room nice and neat.

Reed cried when Abbey left him at MDO today. I think that he was alright after a couple of minutes. He usually doesn't get upset when we leave him, especially at church. That could be because he has the same teachers at church all the time and he has learned who they are and he loves them.

Reed must have had fun at MDO because when he got home he played for a while and then he was zonked!

He first fell asleep with his Mama, and then when I got home he woke up a little bit. I held him while I thought he was waking up, and then he went back to sleep. Always empathetic, I thought it best for me to also go to sleep with him. We must have been completely tuckered out because around 5:15, Abbey came up and said, y'all need to get up!

We went downstairs to discover that Mommy had cooked a yummy supper! She fixed green beans, potatoes, corn and prailine chicken. It was delicious.

After supper, Reed and I ran to the drugstore to pick up a prescription. Then, I had to go to a HOA meeting for our neighborhood. I got home just in time to give Reed his bottle so that was exciting.

We're starting to think about how we are going to landscape our yard this summer. We have some old growth from the previous owners that we need to move. Does anyone out there know when we should dig up shrubs to move them to a different area?

MMMmmm ... Breakfast

Reed woke up EARLY this morning. He has been doing that a little too much lately. We are ready for time change when his wake up time will hopefully adjust itself!

Anyway, he was excited to find my Starbursts on the ledge in the bonus room.

He has learned a lot recently about arm extensions. He likes to direct his mom and I around.

Reed also loves his drumsticks. He can turn anything into a drum.

Abbey fixed Reed his very own fresh cooked, warm breakfast and put it on his cute froggy plate.

She even gave him a fork which Reed was, of course, thrilled to be able to hold.

But, he found eating would be easier without the fork.

In this one, I believe that he was showing the fork all of the yumminess that it was missing.

Reed has begun to really cheese. He has the corniest grin it is so funny. Tonight, Reed kept looking at me during supper and grinning the biggest silly grin. It was hilarious.

Reed has decided that his sippy cup isn't that bad after all. He now only gets a bottle when he is going to bed. This is good and bad. He is ultra-cuddly when he is taking his bottle, so it's sad that we only get to experience that once a day now.

Here's a picture of Reed in his office. It is right behind the club chair in the bonus room. Reed spends much time back there.

It's so good to have the happy Reed back! We really missed him when he was sick.

He enjoyed smiling for the camera this morning, but judging from the fact that I deleted 55 of the 69 pictures today because Abbey didn't get his whole body in them, I would say that he was very active!

Reed wore his Mississippi College T-shirt today. MC is on Reed's list of approved colleges, which as you may recall is a pretty short list if we're paying for it.

How Reedo Got His Groove Back

Last night was a rough night for the Reedster. Around 1:00 AM he woke up with a pretty high fever. It was still that weird thing caused by the MMR shot. We gave him some Ibuprofen and then did cold-compresses. After placing the cold cloth on his forehead for a little while the fever was gone to his torso. We put it on his torso and it went to his arms. We put it on his arms and finally it decided to go away! We haven't seen it again and are believing that it is gone for good.

Reed woke up around 7:00 AM and wanted to read some books. I think we've mentioned already that Reed has become a voracious reader over the past few days. He now picks up a book and brings it to us for us to read to him. This is so different from the way he used to be toward books.

This morning, he started out reading "Guess How Much I Love You?" We love this book and have about 5 copies already, but we have always thought of it as a sentimental book. From the picture above, you can see that Reed thinks it's hilarious!

... And he didn't agree when I told him the story was a sentimental stories of a father rabbits love for his little rabbit. He insisted it was a comedy.

Look closely at the picture above. I think he was trying to read the book through reverse osmosis. Gosh, that kid is smart.

"Here, Daddy, read it again and see if you don't think it's funny."

All of that reading made Bubba sleepy. I've been worried that I have made it hard for Abbey to give him a nap because I always want Reed to nap beside me. That is all well and good, unless you have something to do. So, I made sure that Reed took his nap on his beloved pallet.

Somehow, he managed to lose a sock while he napped. Losing a sock is no trouble for Reed, but it's pretty amazing that he did it while he slept.

I realized when he woke up that his outfit was too small. I decided that I would change him since Britton was coming over for lunch and I didn't want Reed to be embarrassed.

He decided that it was time to move on to some really educational books, so he chose Dr. Seuss' "Mr. Brown can Moo! Can You?" He found it to be really funny. Especially when I read it to him and made all of the sounds that went along with it.

He was still a little sniffly today, but it was not nearly as bad as yesterday.

He still is drooling a ton! That i-tooth is not coming in really quickly.

Britton came over to play with Reed and he invited his parents to come over and play with us. Really, they came over to eat Sunday lunch, but it was a good time to let our boys "play" together. They really aren't that interested in each other all that much yet, but after a few minutes, Reed tried interacting with Britton.

Eventually they even held hands, but we missed this photo!

We know these boys are going to be trouble together, but we are so thankful that they can grow up together. We're really thankful that they are building a house right up the street from us!

It was a beautiful day! We had a surprise early this morning from Enna and Poppy. They send us the zoo membership we've been wanting for so long! We thought we might go to the zoo, but we didn't think we would have time for Abbey to get back for her commitments at church.

We did decided to go for a walk though.

Question: Do they purposefully make people cry who watch Extreme Makeover: Home Edition? I mean, why can't I watch this show without crying? I guess its a good cry though. The house tonight was beautiful. Very much a Jeff and Abbey style home.

Healthy Dose of Vitamin D

It was a beautiful day, so we decided that it would be nice to go out for a little walk and get some Vitamin D! Reed has been feeling a little sniffly and he has a strange, roving fever from his MMR immunization. That being said, sadly, this post has NO SMILES in it!

We took Reed to the play area in our subdivision. Reed was completely uninterested in anything that did not involve either his mother or me holding him. He was not thrilled with the slide as you can see.

He was most happy when we were holding him close. Clinginess that comes when babies are not feeling their best is a two-edged sword. It is really sweet and you always want to be cuddled, but on the flip side, it makes getting anything done impossible.

We were excited that Reed finally got to wear his DBU t-shirt. Abbey got her Master's from DBU. I don't think that we'll see a picture of Reed a shirt from my grad school alma mater. It would be hard to put "Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary" on a baby t-shirt.

Tomorrow is supposed to be an even prettier day. Maybe Reed will get to go out for another spin in his convertible.

This is a rare peak at Reed grabbing his left ear. We found out at his checkup the other day that he had a mild ear infection in his left ear. We would have never known otherwise. We've been trying to pay attention to him grabbing it, but it doesn't happen very often.

Since he has a fever and sniffles, I am going to stay home from church with him tomorrow. Ms. Candace is teaching the preteens for me tomorrow, but Abbey has to teacher her 3rd and 4th graders.

It's amazing how the pretty day did not make ANY of us smile. I guess we are all so tired from being sick this week that we are all pooped out. Poor Abbey even went to work tonight. I bet she is going to be really tired tomorrow. But, I also think that she is probably enjoying being out of the house for a while.

Reed didn't like it when we tried to get him to pose on the picnic table.

Reed went to bed pretty easily tonight, he got sick about an hour later with coughing. I laid down with him in the bed in his room for a little while and he settled down quickly.

Sometimes, he will refuse to go back into his bed after his been in once, so that means that you either let him sleep with you or you let him cry a little while. After making sure that he was okay, I had to do the latter. He cried softly for a few minutes and then went to sleep. However, one of our neighbors must have some visitors driving a big old chevy with an extra set of pipes and they enjoy revving them up every five minutes. If it wakes Reed up, I'm gonna have to go tell them something.

Note: Like I would ever really go out and do that!
