Reed Visits Santa
Okay, so the big day finally came! Reed visited Santa today. You know how everyone has that picture of baby screaming and crying on their first visit to Santa and then the next year he will be all happy?
Yeah, well, not us. Reed was mesmerized by Santa, which was not really a surprise for us. Reed has yet to meet a stranger that he didn't want to befriend. He's pretty much into anyone with facial hair so that only made the visit more enticing.
Now, I have a little beef about this visit to Santa. Is it just me, or is this a total racket! Santa is racking up tons of money on this cornering every nook and cranny of a mall or anywhere else where Santa might be appropriate and then he is sticking it to you with the price of the pictures!
I mean, I didn't realize that we would need to refinance our house to buy a picture with Santa. For those of you unexperienced in this area as of yet who are thinking, "well, why didn't you just take the picture?" NO! They don't allow it! You have to buy a package or you can buy the CD for a little less than the package with the CD in it! Since we are so NOT good at printing out pictures, I guess buying a package wasn't so bad, except for the price! If school pictures are this much, Reed better get ready to have some pictures made by his daddy. That, or either he better plan on being a grader for his first grade teacher. Do they have those in elementary school? Just kidding!
Anyway, tons to report, but I don't feel like uploading! Coming tomorrow: "Reed's First Basketball Game".
Is that Santa small or is that just one huge chair he is sitting in? Cute picture though. I saw a great Santa at Disney World a couple of weeks ago. I even think you could use your own camera there! Haven't been in the mall at all since Thanksgiving so I really don't know what they all are doing. Now that I think about it I don't think my parents ever took us to the mall to get our pictures taken with Santa. I remember visiting him, just no pictures. Oh well...Not at all surprised that Reed did so well with Santa. He really is one laid back little guy when it comes to people!
ReplyDeleteIt is so unusual for a toddler not to be intimidated by the "big guy in Red"! But then, Reed is the exception!!! So cute! Steve was looking at his pictures on the Christmas card today and commented about how happy he looks ... and his personality just comes through even in his pictures!
ReplyDeleteKnow this will be one of the most special Christmases you have ever experienced! Merry Christmas! God bless you three!
Love, Aunt Jean
I know, it's ridiculous how much they want for the Santa pictures!! I can see why you bought a package though, Reed is awfully cute in that photo. :)

Thanks for the Santa tip. We poked our head over the holly trimmed picket fence at our local mall to have a look. Good thing we were heading home with a tired Megan at the time...
ReplyDeleteGreat pic though!

I totally feel your pain about the whole picture with Santa thing. I so want to have one each year of our girls with him, but going into debt over a holiday photo with the jolly ol' elf is a little bit ridiculous. Santa has been at our WalMart the past couple of weekends, and they were taking FREE photos with him. But, the four year old decided to be a scrooge and say she didn't want to go. Guess I could have taken the twins by themselves, but my heart really wasn't into it by then!
ReplyDeleteLove the comment on refi-ing the house for the photos. Everytime we went we turned into Scrooge McDuck going, "They want HOW MUCH???" It's worth it though. In years to come you won't care how much it cost!! TIP: Bass Pro, Opry Mills used to have a Santa and you got an 8x10 for like $10. You might want to check next year.
