Flat Reed: Learning to Climb
Abbey and I were out this evening with the Sprinkles for supper and then we went to visit an elderly lady from our former church who fell and broke her arm and leg. We finished up with dessert at Shoney's (which should have been an obvious mistake, but you know sometimes, you just walk right into trouble).
When we came home, Reed was up on top of my dresser. I think he was standing up there to watch the cleaning lady vacuum and make our bed today. I didn't think that we would have to child-proof this soon, but I guess we are going to have to start looking into that pretty soon. We can't have the real Reed climbing up the dressers and spending the day. Then again, we probably would not have been approved to adopt a baby if we would let a real baby spend the day by himself.
On other news, Abbey made it official today. She will be a "work at home" mom next year. We have been through such a process to become parents, it seemed silly to us for her to continue to work, so she will not be going back to teach next year. She told her principal today. Tennessee is different in that you don't sign a yearly contract, so the only way they find out if your not coming back is if you resign.
I think that Abbey is really going to enjoy being a "work at home" mom. It has always been something that we hoped we would be able to do, and we are going to go for it. We'll have to get used from changing from a DINK to a SIWK, but I think God will bless us for our efforts to raise our blessing.
In the meantime, we are finishing up some things we need to get done around the house while we're still DI, like built-ins in the dining room to store toys! (next week), redoing the countertops (at some point, whenever the guy can get here to measure!), and TOMORROW, we are going to spend the night at our favorite local B and B for our 8 year anniversary of our First Date. Flat Reed is going to get to come with us!
Happy Dating Anniversary!
