Church Picnic
Today was a busy day! We had to work on VBS decorating and then we went to the church picnic.
Reed enjoyed the Hi-C fruit drink.
Abbey said that we looked like we were having a lot of fun!
Trace attacked BB.
Reed heard a really funny joke.

Did I Do That?
Today was SO busy! We had quite a few stains (thanks to Reed) on our sofa in the family room. Somehow, he knows the exact way to hold his sippy cup to make it leak! Anyway, we got a "little green machine" as a baby gift for when we were bringing Reed home! We were told it would be perfect for cleaning "car sickness" out of the "stow and go" chambers on our van.
It turns out, it works pretty good on the couch!
Then, we took apart the baby bed because it has been recalled because of slats that break easily. It was actually pretty cool because we would like to have a different baby bed for Ava, but we wouldn't have bought one otherwise. Now, we can get one!
Reed, had fun throwing his ball. Isn't this a great shot?
We took the train to the church for "Boomerang Express". Then we came home and cleaned up our cars. Uncle Bill used the "green machine" on his seats in his Highlander and it worked very nicely. We washed three cars and even cleaned the back of my Jeep out! You wouldn't believe how long it's been since I've cleaned the back out!
Finally, it was time for a haircut. Uncle Bill cut my hair on our back deck. What do you think?
On the spur of the moment, I told Bill to cut it really short. After receiving Abbey's permission, and Bill questioning it a whole lot, he finally started cutting. I was especially excited to see that I do have a nicely shaped head!

VBS is Drawing Near!
Reed is blessed with incredible bedhead. Yesterday morning, he woke up with a wonderful new style and then he decided that he needed to go for a walk in Mama's shoes.
Last night, the youth of our church did an outreach project for VBS. We ordered 1000 imprinted balloons with our church information on it.
CJ is one of Reed's favorite youth at our church. She's a great helper.
Most of the youth really got into helping blow up the balloons.
After the balloons were inflated, the youth took them to the neighborhoods and parks around our town.
Hopefully, we'll have great attendance at VBS next week.
The kiddos really loved the balloons.
Reed enjoyed the balloons as well.
Today, Reed was really into hamming it up.
He was acting really silly.
He is such a happy little boy.
Tonight Danny and Megan came over for supper.
I think that Reed ran around the living room nearly 1000 times!

A Contest
Tonight, we went to Chick-fil-a for our normal Tuesday night visit. After supper, we went to Petsmart to look for some new fish. Uncle Bill was tired of buying Wal-mart fish that die.
Uncle Bill provides the fish for the fish tank in case you didn't know.
Reed really loves his fish. We have had a bit of an issue with the algae eaters. They keep disappearing. We have no idea where they go. Tonight we bought a yellow one, so hopefully he won't get lost.
The above picture is a contest.
Guess the dates the items above went out of date:

Weekend Flashback
My apologies for the lack of blogging over the past few days. In the bustle of things, the camera cord was inadvertently left on the family room sofa.
We went to Hot Springs this weekend to attend Abbey's cousin Laura's reception. She actually got married back in March so her reception was in their backyard.
Abbey's Uncle Dent recently had this waterfall built in their backyard. It was very nice.
Reed took the time to pose with Uncle Edward.
The happy couple with the happy family. Can you see all the gray in my hair?
He's another picture of us.
Reed was super cute in his little linen outfit.
Reed was a little shy at first, so he sat on Pop's lap.
Reed enjoyed the windmills in the flowers around the party area.
He also enjoyed hiding under the table.
Reed loved Laura's necklace. It has balls all over it!
We stayed in Uncle Dent and Aunt Myra's rental condo on the lake. It was really nice to have a great place with a view for a night. Reed enjoyed playing on the floor.
I think that we are all tired of traveling. We're not scheduled for any traveling for the whole month of June, but July should be interesting! Abbey and I are going to NC and NM sans Reed. Reed is going to be visiting Enna and Poppy, Aunt Ava and Uncle Brookie, and Pop and Lola.

Always on the Go
We are out of town this weekend and although we have Internet access, we do not have the camera cord. Look for pictures on Monday night! Happy Memorial Day!

Love
If you hang out with us very long, you hear us tell Reed something pretty often. We are almost constantly telling him that we love him.
You will also hear us tell Reed to tell you or whoever else is around "love you".
Abbey and I both grew up in homes where we knew without a doubt that we were loved. Our parents told us often that they loved us and they also showed it daily.
As I have gotten older, I have for some reason become less comfortable with telling people that I love them. Even though I might certainly feel love towards someone, I guess I think it isn't manly. That bothers me.
I hope that Reed will always feel comfortable telling me that he loves me and I hope that he will always feel comfortable telling other people that he loves them.
This was especially poignant to me tonight when we were leaving Reed's classroom at church and he told Miss Betty "love you betty, betty!" I thought about the fact that Miss Betty is widowed, her children are grown and she is in her 70's. I wondered if anyone else had told her they loved her today. I knew though, that one sweet two year old, who prays for Miss Betty and loves going to her class had told her that she was loved. And you know what? Miss Betty said, "I love you too!"
Reed also loves his sweet friend, Mae Mae (Mary Catherine).

Sunday with Friends
Abbey woke up early this morning and headed to the church. She cooked breakfast for 40 people. She did an excellent job.
After we took our nap, we enjoyed dinner with friends.
Danny and Megan had us over for grilled burgers.
Miss Candace also came over for supper with the Oliver's.
Reed was especially excited because they had bought some plastic snakes to scare away some pesky birdies.
He was then thrilled to find they had a pantry. He loves going in an out doors.
We have the best friends!
